When you’re a high-powered law firm like Kasowitz Benson Torres, representing everyone from Google to Ford Motor Company, even your cocktail reception invitations need to convey the same sense of dignity, elegance and attention to detail that your legal practice does.
Designed and produced by our good friends at DataGraphic [projects / website], this invitation took its inspiration from the firm’s website, which, tying in nicely with the company’s logo treatment, uses a simple Black triangle motif for its branding.
But that was just the beginning. Taking the idea of a gatefold to new heights, the invitation’s cover is comprised of 2 triangles that meet diagonally in the middle. The upper triangle is solid Black with the firm’s name Screen Printed in Gloss UV White ink, which leaves room to beautifully show off the Arjowiggins Curious Skin Cover sheet from which the whole invitation is made.
The bottom panel features an eye-catching pattern of tiny Black triangles that wrap all the way around the back. Their tone-on-tone effect –always trendy – was accomplished by Screen Printing clear Gloss UV triangles, letting the very matte surface of the paper provide a high contrast for this attractive pattern. Opening the 2 diagonal panels reveals the practice’s trademark Black triangles again, Gloss UV Screen Printed much larger this time, on the inside covers. These beautifully set off the simple text – which has been smartly Screen Printed in White ink – at the invitation’s center.
This is a great reminder of just how elegant an invitation can be with only 2 colors, when you let the paper’s surface do the heavy lifting.
Overall, this piece shows off the same upscale dignity and attention to detail that the law firm seeks to project in all of its commercial litigation dealings. Just one look will remind you to grab your best outfit for this party and leave your “business casual” duds at home.
