These designers cooked up a lip-smackingly-good booklet by combining two of my favorite ingredients: Thanksgiving and letterpress. The result is a wire-o bound booklet of eight yummy recipes made from turkey-day leftovers.
Letterpress printed on Crane’s Lettra in PMS gray and yellow, the deboss effect on the 100% cotton paper is all handmade tactile goodness. The graphic nature of the front cover was skillfully executed with special care taken to lay the ink down in a certain order. Reverse-to-white type receives a boost of color (by way of the yellow illustration underneath) thanks to this technique.
Heavy weight stock for the pages (110 lb.) plus a solid chipboard back (dressed up with a debossed company logo) give the piece enough rigidity to stand up in the kitchen … literally. Flip the pages over the wire-o to the desired recipe and set the booklet up on the counter so you can easily read it while cooking.
The illustrations are café-style fun. The ingredient list and prep directions are eye pleasing. And best of all, you’d actually want to make these recipes. Excuse me while I try out the pumpkin pie milk shake …
