Skin-care companies don’t usually leap to mind when the words “printing innovations” are uttered, but a recent Nivea ad sets us straight on that this time around.
In Brazil, Nivea commissioned communications agency Giovanni + Draftfcb to create an A4-size ad for their products printed with a solar-energy-capturing material to be placed inside copies of Veja Rio [“See Rio”]. Also affixed to the cardstock was a small USB connector. The idea: encourage Brazilian beachgoers to soak up the rays all day, and use the insert to charge their iPhones while they did.
It took six months to develop the piece, eight months to produce, and two months to print.
