This week, of course, marks the 150th anniversary of President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, which naturally begs the question: How do we know what that address actually said? I mean it wasn’t like they had acid-free archival papers back then or anything. How do you keep a document that old around long enough for history boffins to read it?
Apparently we weren’t the only ones wondering this, as Popular Science went into exhaustive detail about the written address in particular, and document preservation in general. Definitely worth a read.
