The more we see of the use of augmented reality and QR codes in print projects, the more we crave truly interactive paper design devoid of technological parlor tricks. (Though the AR component of Ikea’s recent paper catalog still blows us away.) Cue a simple 2D paper puzzle that promises hours of 3D fun, courtesy of one-man Japanese design firm Nendo. The following 3D-looking “bricks” were inserted into that country’s lifestyle magazine Pen.
The bricks can be arranged in a wide variety of ways to create several 3D-looking objects, or combined in such a way as to create one enormous 3D cube.
