I expect music to transport me to various emotional states, but this refreshingly unique CD case from the Husbandmen manages to take me to another physical world as well.
The concept behind the CD packaging is perfectly in tune with the music inside. The creative design duo collaborated with the client – a band called the 442s that explore the possibilities of classical, jazz, folk, and rock – to realize a false world representing this acoustic quartet.
A map is provided for your exploration. Its illustrations act as markers representing moments of inspiration on an imaginary land mass. A pair of diecut compasses supports the idea of navigating in this new place. (Interestingly, the compasses were created from waste paper after diecutting the CD sleeve.)
Paper selection struck a harmonious chord too. For the sleeve, Neenah Environment in Desert Storm was a beautiful backdrop to the blue and orange palette. The blue background color of the map seemed to almost sparkle on the Antique Grey Neenah Classic Crest.
