Table Talk

Inspired by the sweet interactions of the family, SWOON [The Studio] used simple materials and a pulled-back design to support the strong story told in this limited-edition self-promotional book for photographer Dick Patrick.

The idea of gathering and cooking, creating timeless memories in a quaint, light-filled setting comes across beautifully through the visually stunning photographs, the cotton-soft texture of Lettra paper and the evocative copywriting that carry us through the pages.

All of the carefully chosen elements convey an intimate handcrafted quality — a recycled chipboard exterior envelope, the red elastic closure, the tissue wrapping printed with the same words that appear on the first page of the book, and the hand-numbered tags.

So many special details to admire here: the silkscreened copy on the outer envelope includes a tiny fork and spoon on the flaps, Singer-sewn binding with red thread set against the gentle cream color of the stock, a nuanced blind embossed cover title.

The overall intimate effect of the images and styling makes the piece feel like a special keepsake worthy of any coffee table.
