accordion fold

The accordion fold (sometimes referred to as z-folds) is one of the largest folding families, boasting nearly 50 varieties. Accordions are also some of the most common folding styles used in brochure folding today. The key characteristic of accordion folds is the “zigzag” back-and-forth nature of the panels.

Accordions are an excellent choice for a variety of applications but are notoriously problematic during auto-insertion into envelopes.

But on the upside, this style offers flexibility, starting with as little as 3 panels (a simple “z”), with the potential to add as many panels as press and folding equipment will allow.
