We collected 23 different postcards from around the world. When all 23 come together, it creates an amazing set that shows the diversity of the design and paper.
For the love of all things paper and print, this special collection from Legion Paper was the promotional gift at the National Stationery Show. The well-known paper merchant organizes a scavenger hunt with a different theme each year. You swear it can’t get any better, but here we were with the 2015 theme – postcards – and we were left drooling once again.
Design and printing of “Hello From Near & Far” was a team effort. Each designer/printer created a postcard representing where they are from, using their own lives, senses of humor and unique aesthetic styles as inspiration.
The wrap and bellyband that held the postcards looked and felt like a silk sari. The shimmering blue color with gold astrological illustration was royally sumptuous. While most of the 4 x 6 cards were letterpress printed, there are wonderful examples of offset printing, digital printing, foil stamping, and embossing as well.
Farewell Paperie’s “smart snark” (Greetings from Sunny Seattle) had us chuckling as did the homage to Pittsburgh, PA from Sapling Press. The gold foil stamping atop Dark Grey ColorPlan was stunning (Bespoke Letterpress Australia). Flywheel Press produced a nostalgic card with an unusual combo of red letterpress printing (the word San Francisco in slab type) combined with a halftone of the Golden Gate Bridge. Igloo Letterpress did the honors on a Corkskin substrate. Honestly, we loved them ALL.
