When designing our own business cards we wanted to make sure they were simple enough to stand the test of time.
– Nicole McQuade, The McQuades
The blind emboss paired with a white foil stamping certainly does the trick. By incorporating minimalist design and color, the McQuades did indeed create a timeless business card that will make an impact whatever the current design trends may be.
When deciding on the paper stock, the McQuades wanted something that would lend itself to the blind embossing while also being an excellent candidate for foil stamping. In the end, they decided on black presentation board with blind emboss and white-foil stamping by Rohner Letterpress.
“We learned that black museum board is great to foil stamp on,” says Nicole. “Our printer suggested this because it holds the foil stamp better than traditional paper, and we love the way it came out.”
The dual dimension created by the blind emboss of their symmetrical “M” logo is enough to leave anyone “oohing” and “ahhing,” she says. “The emboss on one side and the deboss on the other side is such a satisfying thing to feel. The super thick paper also gives it a weight that we love.”
And how could you not love a minimalist look that provides all the information you need without all the extra fluff?
