“The passion and commitment of Domenica Fiore oils is instantly recognizable in the quality of ‘liquid gold’ which pours from each bottle,” declares a satisfied chef on the website of that Vancouver olive oil company. And what better vessel for its latest “liquid gold” than a stainless steel container whose labels mimic the look of a soft-metallic sheen without using a metallic material or ink?
With 21 SKUs in the new olive oil line, Ballentine Media designed an eye-catching label that combines a nautilus-like theme with a simple, easily customizable name and information area. Using the variable printing feature on the HP Indigo presses, Summit Print produced a different color label for each variation of olive oil, including Olio Novello, Olio Monaco and Olio Reserva. Each also prominently reproduces a date and signature handwritten by the oil’s creator.
The labels were printed on a clear polypropylene film from Avery Dennison with a matte lamination and spot UV, whose clear material allowed the natural sheen from the stainless steel bottle beneath to show through.
As a result, the labels earned numerous awards, including five gold medals in international competitions, as well as the prestigious HP Inkspiration award.
