For many in the U.S., the specter of South Africa’s brutal apartheid system of repression conjures up little more than memories of product boycotts and the image of a humble Nelson Mandela released from his decades-long imprisonment. For those in that country, however, the memories are a great deal more troubling.
To remind other South Africans of what those days of apartheid were like, the Nelson Mandela Foundation sent out some very unusual donation requests – a compelling example of just how effective a little ingenuity can be.
