Have a job that regularly takes you to Europe? Have an adventurous palate? Then pull up a plush red restaurant chair, my friend, because we have the post-holiday impulse buy for you. Though the Gourmet Scratch Map may resemble a schizophrenic seizure at first glance, it’s a pretty sweet melange of typography, geography and design that could easily take pride of place on any kitchen wall.
This black, 31.5-by-24-inch laminate print features more than 130 different dishes from all over the European continent arranged geographically over their place of origin.
The name of each dish is covered with a blue-gray foil. The idea is that, after you sample the dish in its native land, you return home and scratch off the foil to reveal the same name in a different color. That’s one delicacy sampled, and 130-plus to go.
