Custom playing cards fall like rain these days thanks to falling digital printing prices and designers’ understandable passion for getting their work into the hands of other people. But few cards we’ve seen have boasted the passion, boldness and utter attention to detail as this hand-drawn deck by Prague artists Tomski & Polanski. The Pernowka Highland Fauna deck contains 52 playing cards, 1 joker, 1 reserve card, and an old world vibe that really gets under your skin.
Inspired by the atmospheric woods of the Bohemian Highlands, these intricately illustrated cards were printed by Hraci Karty printers (est. 1884) on German Koehler heavy card stock, with many containing secret messages. Even the tuck box is printed on the inside.
Limited to 1,000 decks, the cards can be purchased online for $16.
