Perhaps one of the greatest challenges any good designer faces is the temptation to deploy as many printing and finishing techniques as the client’s squeaky budget will allow. Of course the seasoned designer knows that a single process, expertly applied to a smart and clean design, is what usually wins the day.
Drink in all the gorgeousness of this poster Schoener designed for German bar/cafe Pantheon’s 14th anniversary. Each detail was laser-etched into a duplexed cardboard medium. The design itself was inspired by the Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps of the 19th century. (We didn’t know this was a thing, but apparently it was a thing.)
