This week FiftyThree, maker of the amazingly-paper-like “Paper” iPad app for sketching, announced a new product created in association with Moleskine: Book.
For $40, you can have 15 “Paper” spreads custom-printed in a Moleskine notebook format crated exclusively for the partnership. The new book preserves the iPad’s 4 x 3 ratio.
Leaving aside the hefty price tag for a moment, the finished product looks like a fascinating piece, allowing you to:
- Choose colors of the book’s spine and back
- Draw your own front cover, or go with the classic black.
Though Moleskine has previously partnered with Evernote to create books tailor made for scanning into that note-taking app, this feels like a much better fit. It is more in keeping with what paper has become in the digital world: a way of beautifully preserving the best bits of that electronic universe.
