Arjowiggins NFC-enabled Paper

powercoat aliveThe mad scientist’s laboratory that is Arjowiggins is happily poking holes in the wall separating print and digital with a paper called PowerCoat Alive. The sheet is made with an RFID tag that can interact with a near field communication (NFC) enabled smartphone, causing it to display whatever pre-programmed information the end user deems appropriate. (Whew! Remember the days when paper was just cool because it was, well, cool?)

Five years in the making, PowerCoat Alive has a host of uses, from business cards and price tags to a way of verifying the authenticity of an item, or to register it – no QR codes required.
