Paper can stir up many emotions in people…especially nostalgia. In fact, even paper boasting menacing information can get the ol’ eyes misting over. (Providing you’re a safe enough distance time-wise from said menace.)
Remember when New York was synonymous with murder and brutality? Sure you do. This 1970s-era flyer was cooked up by the police union to scare tourists away from the Big Apple in order to get a boost in funding. Our favorite piece of advice:
“Avoid public transportation. Subway crime is so high that the City recently had to close off the rear half of each train in the evening so that the passengers could huddle together and be better protected.”
