Cascades announced it was ranked the fine paper leader in the area of “Responsible Fiber Sourcing” according to the World Wildlife Fund For Nature (WWF) Environmental Paper Company Index 2011.
Nineteen global paper producers allowed the WWF to conduct an in-depth analysis of the processes for fine paper, tissue or packaging products.
The producers participating in this year´s Index are:
- Fine paper category: Arjowiggins Graphic, Burgo, Cascades, Domtar, Fedrigoni, Mondi, M-real, Stora Enso, Suzano, UPM;
- Packaging category: Cascades, Korsnäs, Mondi, SCA Containerboard;
- Tissue paper category: Arjowiggins Graphic, Metsä Tissue, Renova, SCA Tissue, Sofidel
This assessment was undertaken to classify all participants in relation to their ecological footprint in order to establish an index for environmental paper manufacturers.
“WWF applauds the transparency of participating producers. By allowing evaluation of their environmental performance these companies are showing that they take environmental and social responsibility seriously,” says Emmanuelle Neyroumande, coordinator of WWF International’s global pulp and paper work.
