The biggest challenge with this project was to successfully communicate information about the featured events for each program and visually represent both graphic design and industrial design in one poster.
Courtney Windham Design met its challenge on the “Graphic Design and Designing Green Poster 2014” with a tactile paper choice, a fresh palette, and feature typography.
The poster was designed for Auburn University’s School of Industrial and Graphic Design that hosts a week of design-related events where students and the public are treated to guest lecturers, a juried graphic design show and a sustainable design competition.
Inspired by the cross-pollinating influence of the school’s two programs, the featured letters GDDG, which stand for Graphic Design and Designing Green, are illustrated in the bright colors and images of nature.
All-cotton Crane’s Lettra imparts the feel of fabric and the look of handmade paper. The hand-finished deckle edge at the bottom of the poster gives the design a unique visual element that heightens the impression that the piece was crafted with quality and attention to detail.
