Who hasn’t dreamed of turning off their phone and escaping for a long weekend, relaxing with a good book and a glass of wine? Warsaw designer Aga Lut has certainly thought about it.
She crafted a complete identity suite for Night Owl, a fictitious short-term apartment rental in London designed specifically for introverts. Instead of venturing out to experience the local nightlife, these guests can enjoy quiet evenings spent reading and unwinding.
Thoughtful Design Elements
By selecting beautiful papers, cleverly using Hot Foil Stamping dies, and adding a few tactile surprises, Aga’s collateral instantly transports recipients to a cozy getaway.
The business card, for instance, serves as an elegant introduction to this apartment concept. It feels satisfyingly chunky, achieved by duplex-laminating two different 300 gsm sheets. This construction also cleverly conceals the bruising from the deeply Hot Foil Stamped Night Owl logo on the front.
The logo, stamped in Gold on Arjowiggins Keaykolour Navy Blue paper, beautifully aligns with the theme. The Blue paper and the owl-like “O” in the logo evoke nighttime, while the Gold Foil and the “spark” above the letter “i” represent a reading light.
On the reverse, the address and contact details are digitally printed in Blue on Arjowiggins Keaykolour Grey Fog.
Notecards and Envelopes: A Paper Lover’s Delight
For true paper enthusiasts, the notecard set might be the highlight of this suite. The cards are digitally printed on a matte coated sheet. They feature the Night Owl name in Gold Foil beneath a moody photo of a book lover immersed in their reading.
However, it’s the matching Keaykolour readymade envelopes that truly steal the show. Guests are encouraged to seal their envelopes with Gold hot wax using a custom stamper. This leaves the “O” logo imprinted at the center of the wax seal. Already, the stress of the year begins to melt away.
Bookmarks and Door Hangers: The Final Touches
No apartment designed for bookworms would be complete without bookmarks. The Gold “spark” Hot Foil Stamping pattern and logo, whether on Keaykolour Navy Blue or Grey Fog paper, are both beautiful. They’re carefully stamped to avoid leaving any bruising on the back.
The same pattern graces the door hangers, with “Please make up my room” on one side; “Please do not disturb” on the other.
Aga’s goal from the start was to create a “mock” identity suite that would attract high-end clients. Her effort succeeded, giving her branding career a significant boost.
To borrow a famous movie line, “If you design it, they will come.”
