In today’s world, our phones, tablets, and other devices face numerous risks. Instead of encasing them in bulky protective covers, many choose the “invisible” shield offered by extended warranty plans like Samsung Care+. These allow your devices to maintain their sleek appearance while being insured against damage.
EYE6 Productions, in collaboration with our good friends at highresolution [projects/ website], designed and produced a prototype holder for the Samsung Care+ plan that embodies this “sturdy and stylish” concept.
Overcoming Big Challenges in a Small Design
Designed to fit in a shirt pocket, the holder’s small size posed significant production challenges. What might seem like a simple piece at first glance is actually the result of meticulous planning and precision.
The front cover exudes the same sleek, modern feel as the devices it protects, thanks to the Soft Touch texture of the myCordenons myPlike Black paper. The large padlock logo at the center, a combination of Emboss and Glossy Black Hot Foil, catches the eye immediately.
The “Samsung Care+” name is Embossed and Hot Foil Stamped in Matte Silver. The tagline, “Whatever happens, we make the best of it,” is stamped flat in the same Matte Silver Foil.
Tackling the Tiny Text Dilemma
One of the most demanding aspects of the project was the fine print disclaimers on the packaging. Due to the tiny 5 pt. size, they tested various Hot Foils until they found a Matte Silver that remained legible. On the back, the “Samsung Care+” Matte Silver Foiled Embossed logo reappears, reinforcing the brand.
A Magnetic Closure and Tri-Fold Design
Instead of the expected Velcro, the short flap is secured with a magnetic closure. This includes not just one magnet, but two, cleverly concealed inside a roll fold. This creates a satisfying “plop” when snapped shut.
Opening the holder reveals a tri-fold design with a short cover. One side features a folded-over flap with a Die Cut window. This securely holds the Black stainless steel warranty card printed in Matte Silver.
The opposite side has a folded-over pocket that houses the warranty brochure, printed on Sappi McCoy Gloss Cover with a Soft-Touch varnish. These fold-overs add durability to the carrier while also concealing the bruising from the Embossing and Foil Stamping processes.
This attention to detail reassures Samsung Care+ customers that their devices are in good hands. Meanwhile, the holder’s sleek design reminds them of the style that attracted them to their devices in the first place.
