Rise-and-Shine Business Card

73riseandshine

“You can’t afford to go unnoticed,” says the copy on a business card that I definitely noticed.

Letterpress printed on one side in black and copper ink, the creation at first appears to be a standard 2 x 3.5 single card. But it’s actually 2 x 7 flat and opens like a mini 4-pager. The backside (pages 3 and 4 if you will) is hand-scored in the middle to allow for folding there as well. Why? Because the backside becomes an easel so you can stand the card up vertically on the desktop – aforementioned copy, logo and website visible.

The easel is held in place with two ingenious laser-cut hands. The first hand is cut on three sides and bends backward toward another hand (only the fingertips are laser cut on Hand #2 creating a slot for Hand #1 to secure itself).

I love the image this creates. One white hand and one black hand reach toward each other in a handshake of … design cooperation … creative collaboration … or maybe just a friendly, “Let me introduce myself. Here’s my unforgettable business card!”
