While any couple about to be married dreams of the future, these two lovebirds (both historians) spend a lot of time in the past. So the vintage vibe of their wedding suite makes perfect sense and a perfect study on how to expertly mix the old with the new.
The design and print team chose 1800’s advertising as the inspiration for this classic invitation, focusing on a playful mix of typefaces, ornaments, frames, line work, and antique engravings.
Lively typography and pops of color give the invite a modern freshness. The witty RSVP card, which is comprised of images of telegraphs and other legacy modes of communication, really adds to the whimsy.
The Ecru shade of the Crane’s Lettra paper imparts that antique feel, as does the use of old-fashioned twine (to secure the pieces), vintage stamps (in corresponding colors), and that pinking-shear edge (on the flap of the envelope).
