Just like when I look at a tempting dessert menu, there are so many yummy items to choose from when describing why I like this restaurant’s grand opening invitation, I think I’ll just have to sample them all for you.
Appetizer: the envelope. The designer served up a fun and raucous illustration (the eatery’s signature caricatures of Boston characters) decorates the body. The flap is printed a solid brown that coordinates with the illustration (think straight line piping on a cake). Icing on that cake is the custom postage from stamps.com that uses the logo. (Why aren’t we all doing this?!)
Main Course: the invitation. This is a wonder for an ingenious folding treatment that adds shine and dimensionality. Neenah’s Brown Classic Linen is strategically gold foil stamped on the underside, then diecut on either end in the shape of half a palm tree. The foiled areas are folded back and the whole piece gatefolded, which creates a complete palm tree.
A La Carte: the flysheet that repeats the caricature illustrations printed on translucent stock is tasty. The marble pattern printed on the tipped-in invite card, which echoes the restaurant’s marble interior, is quite the garnish.
