You’d expect the designers of a fundraising brochure for the California Academy of Sciences to include beautiful 4-color images of pristine locations and exotic wildlife. But putting a real butterfly on the cover?
Well, it certainly looked real thanks to holographic foil stamping placed on top of the image. The print and design team took a traditional 6 x 9 folded 6-page format to new heights with the shiny, color-morphing effect.
With an expected nod to the environment, 100 lb. Environment 100% PCW Cover was used on the project. The glowing butterfly (as well as the other color images) popped off a solid black matte background (4cp + bump black + coating).
