When Oregon Printing Communications Marketing Manager Amanda Pond developed a cutting-edge marketing collateral piece she had a few goals in mind: to feature new services; to promote the capabilities of the HP Indigo 5600; and to elevate Oregon Printing Communications’ position as an inspirational print leader.
Designed to reinforce Oregon Printing’s “Make Your Mark” slogan, the highlight of the piece is variety. Although small in size, the book is packed full with a multitude of substrates from translucent to pearlescent to deep colored stocks. A mix of full size and short pages in various shapes — short and long, short and square, etc. — helps to show off the company’s capabilities.
The brochure also uses vibrant photography and graphics to highlight the HP Indigo 5600’s white ink capabilities [Watch: Digital White Ink Webinar] and expanded substrate possibilities. For example, they showcased a mock varnish effect utilizing a combination of specialty papers and ink.
The piece includes several GPA offerings including Ultra Digital Specialty Color Pumpkin Orange 110 lb. Cover; Ultra Digital Specialty Pearlescent 110 lb. Cover; Ultra Digital Translucent 80 lb. Text; and Starlight Photo Lustre 110 lb. The printer used CMYK plus specialty inks, and while the booklets were digitally printed, each one was cut, scored, hand collated and finished off with a saddle-stitch binding.
An inspirational piece that encourages printing without limits using HP Indigo Digital Print Technology, the brochure was a winner in the first annual HP Inkspiration Awards, given out at the 11th annual DSCOOP conference. It also won Best of Show in GPA’s 2015 Print and Design Contest, and Gold in the Advertising Industry Self-Promotion category at the Hermes Awards.
