This capability brochure from Adams Lithographing is a dramatic example of why print can never be replaced.
It’s a sculpture really, meant to be touched and turned in your hands to fully appreciate. No printing or finishing technique was spared and yet it never felt overdone: bamboo sticks for binding, french fold pages, gold foil stamping, soft touch aqueous coating, and luscious Sappi McCoy Silk paper all came together to support an environmental theme that was well researched and written.
Loved the double entendre meaning for the title. A spot gloss UV handprint appeared three times throughout and gave me goose bumps. The sculpted emboss panel lifted an image of double star coral right off the page. The 4-color sepia toned two-page spread of a whale’s fluke rising above the ocean waves made me want to weep.
In short, it was a privilege to get to see this piece.
With Our Own Hands was featured as a Paper Inspiration.
