DeVotchKa Limited Edition CD

There are at least 100 reasons why we adore this CD package for DeVotchKa’s newest release titled “100 Lovers.” (For the uninitiated, DeVotchKa is a multi-instrumental ensemble that fuses Romani, Greek, Slavic, Bolero and Mariachi music with punk and folk.)

We loved the inclusion of a tube of lip balm housed inside that crafty position in the diecut outer box. Now, do I need that mouth moisture because I’ve kissed all 100 lovers? Or maybe I’ve just smacked my lips to the point of chafing from all that good music and great design?

Well yes, but … that customized chap stick serves as the stand for a zoetrope that’s included in the package! Assemble the pieces, give it a spin and you get to watch folks flying away on umbrellas. All in all, this project is playful from the inside out.
