You can always tell when a print project has been properly planned … when careful thought into its beauty, function and relevance have been important to those creating it.
That kind of creative process came together so successfully in this calendar created by and for CPS Gumpert.
The tactile Via 100 lb. Felt Cover contributes a fine art feel to the original artwork, which was created from photographs, stock and hand-drawn images, pieced together and given paper type effects for depth and feel.
The resulting monthly “illustrations” look like watercolor paintings. Each captures the Baltimore, Annapolis, and Washington, D.C. area where the company is located without using the typical touristy shots.
An aluminum screw post used to secure the pages together was one of my favorite touches. I love the ease with which the sheets turn when changing the months – just like fanning out my Pantone swatchbook.
