2011 Prejean Creative Christmas Card

A fortune-teller theme is not at all expected on a Christmas card, and therein lies half of its charm.

The other half of its charm? You get to be a kid again … folding the 65 lb. Sundance Smooth Cover into its origami-inspired, flower-like shape. I can remember creating these paper fortune-tellers and using them for very important queries like “Is Mark going to ask me to go steady?”

In the hands of this creative team, questions like “Should I have that third piece of pie?” and “Will I stick to my New Year’s resolution?” bring the message Christmas relevance without too much adult stuffiness.

With red and green shades reminiscent of the season, but with a slightly modern twist, the palette is cheerful and bright. The addition of blue and touches of contrasting brown add interest and evoke a sense of the carnival mystic.

So I asked my fortune teller, “Was this card a success?”  “Yes” was the answer because there’s nothing holiday-cookie-cutter going on here.

Prejean Creative Christmas Card was featured as a Paper Inspiration.
