I had to pry this out of the hands of a certain PaperSpecs team member who shall remain nameless. (Given the set of three lined notebooks and box of No. 2 pencils complete with sharpener and erasers, it won’t be too hard to narrow down the possible suspects.) Her enthusiasm did extend to the design, as well it should.
In addition to the aforementioned items, which seem to have disappeared again, there is a set of notecards and magnets. The designer at Franklin Mill created an entire complement of desk mates that feels woodsy without the usual literal depiction of a tree or forest.
Printed offset on Hyacinth Super White Paper, the six spot colors look vibrant and contemporary. Subtle beauty abounds: wood texture applied to the paper, saddle sewing with black thread, silver ink used to mimic the look of graphite for the drawing on the pencil box, gold foil decorative elements on all the pieces, and how the pencil box was constructed to pull out vertically.
