I’ve never been one to enjoy bursting someone’s bubble, but this quirky advent calendar has me laughing and popping with abandon. The fun, interactive piece will conjure up memories of shipping gifts at the last minute and relieving holiday frustrations.
Twenty-five numbers are letterpress printed in green on a sturdy white backer board. A sheet of bubble wrap is stitched on top, an individual bubble placed strategically over each number. On Dec. 1, you pop bubble 1 and so on each day until Dec. 25.
The designer managed to get three senses involved:
Eyes – love the all-green palette and the Christmas tree illustration made of circles
Fingers – great variation of texture from the stock, the debossed typography and the plastic bubble wrap
Ears – this was a unique way of incorporating sound into a printed piece.
All these bubbles and popping noises make me think of champagne, too, which I will use to toast the ingenuity of this calendar.
The Bubble Wrap Advent Calendar was featured as a Paper Inspiration.
