“Our approach was to display, with elegance and clarity, each of the features in a lavishly over-sized format.”
In a word … sumptuous. Paper, printing, finishing, and design – Robert Louey Design blended message, identity and materials to create a love potion (in the form of a Smyth-sewn, oversize book) for this world-class residence in India.
Overall, the first impression is opulent yet serene. A rich red book cloth on the spine punctuates a gorgeous sleeve (foil-stamped Curious Metallics Lustre wrapped around 118 pt. board). The foil-stamped pattern, which resembles a lacey constellation, also appears on the book’s back cover tying the two elements together visually.
The front cover of the Grand Hyatt Residences book is a lustrous photograph of a sculpture that is so finely detailed, the viewer can see the grains of sand in the original piece of art. Inside, photographs on the text pages come alive on Mohawk Superfine.
No detail has been overlooked: spare, sophisticated typography; headband and footband finishing touches, and two silk ribbon markers that repeat the red of the spine and the turquoise of the endpapers.
