“That’s Impressive,” boasts the fabric emboss type on the cover of this promotional piece for Glasgow Press, a letterpress printer in Scotland. And we quite agree.
The outer carrier is testament to what the proper weight can do for any presentation packaging – done in a hefty 540 gsm board (Colorplan from GF Smith), you immediately know that what’s inside is important and special.
Once the carrier is opened, the first thing you see is a belly band (Plike) fastened by a “wax” seal. This touch communicates attention for details.
Pop the wax seal, and you see five postcards letterpressed with the lyrics from some of the printer’s favorite local bands. The personal touch here says to me these folks are interesting and worth getting to know.
All the cards use Colorplan – four are duplexed with a combination of 350 gsm bright white on one side and a contrasting color (also 350 gsm) on the opposite side.
The fifth card (our personal favorite) was a glorious triplex sandwich of yellow, red and white. The inside stripe of red was an unexpected condiment that any designer would savor.
Yep, That’s Impressive!
