Jess Jackson Legacy

To elicit human feeling or heartfelt response is the hallmark of any great design. But when the piece is a memorial to someone’s life, it requires a masterful touch.

Michael Osborne Design created this booklet for the Legacy Dinner, a formal event in honor of the late Jess Jackson, founder of Kendall-Jackson Winery. The handmade quality of the piece keeps perfect time with the family, friends and wine at the center of his story.

Hand-tipped sepia photographs encourage us to go back and remember a man who worked to perfect what he loved. Tiny icons at the bottom of each page (grape leaf, wine glass, wine bottle, cork screw) gently remind us that the small moments are most precious.

Letterpress printing evokes the personal nature of friendship held dear. The toothy feel of the paper elicits the closeness of family bonds. The hand saddle-sewn binding pulls us toward the realization that quality requires time and patience.

All together, it is a full-bodied accomplishment in design.

Jess Jackson Legacy was featured as a Paper Inspiration.
