The Unrefined Olive Oil Gift Pack

The packaging has been very popular with the store’s clientele (many of whom chose to keep the package)…

– Sunil Sarwal, The Small Monsters

Upon completing the design for the Unrefined Olive’s identity – including logo, bottles, store signage and print material – The Small Monsters was…uh, were (thanks a lot, guys!!) commissioned to create a gift package for the store in just seven days. The challenge was to create a design that could neatly hold each of the olive oil bar’s four bottle sizes, which range from 750 ml. to 150 ml., in a package that was affordable to produce, environmentally friendly, reusable and able to be stored flat.

Because the size difference between the largest and the smallest bottles was considerable, the initial brief was to create two different packages. However, through experimentation, the team was able to eliminate the extra package with a design that would contain each size efficiently by being stackable. The final product was offset printed using only one color on 20 pt. kraft chipboard coated on two sides (C2S).

For those who can somehow bear to part with the recycled carton, the piece itself is 100% recyclable. To date, 9,500 gift packages have been produced.
