Letterpress, foil stamping –we love special effects. Who doesn’t? Especially when the type is pressed deep into the paper… sigh.
But what looks great on the front has a dark side – well, a not-so-favorable reverse side. That’s because when you push deep into the paper from the front, that paper has to go somewhere, so it pushes out to the back. That, is called “bruising.”
