When was the last time you saw a paperback book sport a dust jacket? Isn’t this the domain of hard cover editions? (To be clear though, this creative piece is actually a musical album first and a book second.)
The dust jacket lends extra room for quirky pen and ink illustrations and serves up a little protection for the subtle use of silver-blue foil on the perfect bound spine and front cover. Love the shininess against the solid matte black, the cool metallic smoothness of the foil atop the warm texture of the Cougar Cover.
The presentation of the CD ties into the title of one of the short stories (The Hole)– Get to page 34 and it’s ensconced in plain view through large circles diecut in the pages of the back half of the book. Kind of like what you’d see in an old movie when they wanted to hide a stolen diamond or Top Secret government microfilm.
All in all, this project hits a beautiful tone.
Rest of the Story was featured as a Paper Inspiration.
